A concrete experience of nothing

White charcoal, White chalk

200 x 120 inch

Site specific work for 15 Westminster Student Dorm, Providence, United States

In contrast to the “presentness” of the modernist painting and sculpture. The whole process focus on removing the presence of the material which is the white charcoal.Rather than explore the possibilities and limitation of a specific media, this action tends to dissolve boundaries between media. (white wall / white charcoal)

I want to emphasize the inaccessible to experience that unfolds over time. By the mere presence of this artwork, this creates an dependent or a reflection on the viewer’s own consciousness and perception. The act of looking and thinking shows that you are conscious inside. Absence and blindness in experience give rise to our consciousness and imagination.
